Hi, my name is Jennifer!
A little background on me: I have always been a very independent person, who has not followed the normal path of life. For example: I worked all through high school and as soon as I turned 18, I moved out and have supported myself ever since. I took some college classes, but never graduated, focusing instead on work. Additionally, I never married or had children. This has worked for me and I am happy with the decisions I have made for myself. It isn't always easy, but it can be fun and adventuresome! I am at my best when I do things on my terms and am true to my authentic self.
I am grateful for my friends and family's love and support, and allowing me to be me.
I spent a few years planning my retirement and in 2022 at the age of 61 and after over 23 years in corporate sales I took the plunge and retired!
I sold my house in Oakland, California and moved by myself to a small agricultural town in Northern California.
This is an exciting time for me. I have started a whole new life! Exploring new places, trying new things, making new friends, having time to spend with old friends, and best of all, getting to know myself again, after working so hard for so many years.
I decided I would share my journey on social media because I want to inspire other people to be true to their authentic self and not let society norms dictate how they feel about themselves or determine how they should live their lives.
Additionally, my goal is to break the single stigma that still exists in our society by changing the single narrative.
Hence my hashtag #breakingthesinglestigma
I hope you join me on my journey and see how it all unfolds!
I love the outdoors and enjoy hiking with friends. I think it's a great way to get caught up, get some exercise and connect. I also try to jog at least once a week. I work out and do yoga and try to make time to meditate. These activities help keep me feeling grounded.
I do my best to balance a healthy diet, although I do have a sweet tooth that cannot be denied!
l relish trying the latest restaurant or a new adventure.
One of my favorite interests is travel, solo or with friends or family. I am fascinated by how people live day to day, what they eat, and wear and gaining knowledge and understanding of their beliefs. I like visiting the major tourist sites, but what I really like to do is get out and walk the neighborhoods and really take in all the sites of local living.
I have had a passion for houses, architecture, and interior design ever since I can remember and during the pandemic I took a 9 month online course for interior design and completed online classes for real estate. I am always up for a house tour or open house, no matter where I am in the world.
I enjoy fashion and even at 62 I try to be stylish, although managing a changing figure can be daunting!
And of course, a good spa experience is one of my favorite pleasures.
Now, that I am not working, I look forward to spending time doing volunteer work so that I can give back to society.
I believe you can create the life you want for yourself, by staying positive, setting goals for yourself, staying focused, and accomplishing them, (no matter how long it takes), and most importantly, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!
If I can do it, YOU CAN TOO!
Our culture is changing and it is time that society accepts "singlehood" as a happy, healthy, lifestyle option.
My goal is to break the stigma that still exists in our society, by being an example of someone who has chosen this lifestyle and lives a happy, productive, and fulfilling life.
I love this quote by Roy T. Bennett!
